Christmas Eve in Malaga. We were a little late getting up today, so decided to wander off in the sunshine for a late breakfast/early lunch. The cafe bars were all quite busy, but we found a spot away from the centre of town and treated ourselves to tejeringos.
Throughout Spain, churros – long deep fried strips of donut batter – are served as a gloriously sweet breakfast. In Malaga, they are piped into the hot fat using a different shape nozzle, giving them a unique appearance. Known as tejeringos they are as popular with Maluguenos as they are visitors.
Today, I enjoyed mine with a cup of thick hot chocolate. Paul went for a small pot of chocolate sauce. Basically, you break bits of the hot dough off and dip into your chocolate. Simply delightful.
Tomorrow, we are cooking Christmas lunch in the apartment. It is going to be interesting without an oven, but optimistic the hob and the airfryer are up to the challenge. Feliz Navidad.
