Time flies

It’s amazing how quickly time has flown during our Malaga stay. We now have just a fortnight to go until returning to the UK. That’s just the length of a regular holiday. I have started to be a bit more considered with the food shopping and beginning to wind down the contents of the freezer.

This final phase of the hibernation has been made more delightful by the number of visitors arriving. Following the lovely week with my brother, sister and nephew, our friends David and Simon touched down at Malaga airport. We have had a great few days with them and having guests in the apartment with us, creates a totally different energy. Next week, more friends in the shape of Keith and Niall fly in from Dublin. It really will feel quiet when everyone has gone home.

Yesterday, the glorious weather we have been enjoying came to an abrupt halt. A deluge of rain continued throughout the day, with miserable grey skies and no sign of any sun. It was a good time for some shopping, coffee pit stops and a longer lunch than usual.

By the evening, the rain had all but stopped and the four of us ventured out first to Bar Miguel for cervazas and then on to El Gastronauta where the paella is very good. The weather can change very quickly here, so no surprise we were able to end the evening sitting outside at the Plaza de la Merced.

It’s carnival week here and we had planned to catch some of yesterday’s drag queen competition. The weather rather took that off the table for us, but we could go down tomorrow for the ritual burial of the anchovy.
