Back to Malaga

It’s day three of our second winter hibernation in Andalucía and already feels like we have come home. The pre-trip organisation seemed a lot less stressful this time around and the journey went well to schedule. So well, that we were able to enjoy a long, leisurely evening amongst the hubbub of Plaza de la Merced.

We are staying in a different apartment this year in a neighbourhood called Lagunillas. My Spanish tutor, Toni tells me that Barrio de Lagunillas was always a very traditional and local area. Some money has been spent renovating buildings in the area and its appeal to tourists is growing. He felt that it’s a shame, although good for us and we should enjoy it! There are certainly local bars, shops and restaurants nearby which we will no doubt be exploring. I must get some pictures of the iconic graffiti which adorn a number of the walls and include with a future blog.

Negotiated rejoining the gym today, most of the conversation in Spanish. The gym is very close to the apartment and very little English is spoken there. Which is good for me, as it makes me practice my española!

I had my first face to face lesson back with Toni this morning. So much better than the remote learning. Meanwhile, Paul has started an intensive five day course at a local school. Too hard core for me and, besides there are cafes to visit, cortados to drink and people to watch.….
