Lights on

Navidad got well under way in Malaga on Friday when the switch was thrown on the spectacular festive lights. I was amazed to read that 2.7 million LED bulbs are sparkling throughout the city this year, which sounds quite excessive but looks absolutely amazing. Calle Larios, the main shopping street, is stunning with its glittering columns and shimmering angels stretching along its entire length. The lights become animated three times a night and sync with a festive soundtrack. Joyous.

As I write, it is the start of week two and we are on a train to Fuengirola for a stroll and no doubt a spot of lunch. Pleasantly warm here today.

This first week, we have found our feet in the new apartment and, despite somewhat unreliable WiFi, we have few complaints. The building is a traditional Spanish style, with an open courtyard in the middle. I wonder how that coped with the rain storms here a few weeks ago. As it’s open, the main hazard we have faced is pigeons flying out at you from their favourite nesting places. I guess it’s their home too!!
