It seems incredible that we are already packing our bags and getting set for our return to Reading. This three months has flown by and, although I’m not sad to be heading back to England, I will miss this life here in Andalusia. Hopefully we can do the same again next winter.
Malaga has always been a favourite destination for a week away in Spain. We have been here together many times and had lovely holidays. Happily it is also a great place to live on an ongoing basis.
We chose well in the area we lived in. Victoria is a neighbourhood very close to the centre of town, but far enough away to be less popular with the tourists. It was great to be living in an apartment block with mainly Spanish neighbours, drink in bars popular with the locals and buy groceries from stores where the staff are unlikely to speak much English.
My journey with the language continues. My teacher, Toni has been very patient and some days I feel like I am making progress. On other days, my mind goes completely blank and I’m lucky if I can string more than three words together in Spanish. But I shall keep going. It is hard work, often frustrating, but mostly fun and worth the effort.
There are too many highlights to start listing them all here, too many laughs to share and too many la cuentas settled in way too many bars and restaurants. Let’s just say it has been a fantastic three months and I cannot wait to be returning for more of the same.
Adios, Malaga. Hasta el proximo tiempo.
