It has certainly been chillier here in Malaga this year, although we have still enjoyed sunshine, blue skies and very little rain. So can’t complain. As I write this, I am sitting outside Cafe Madrid, one of my favourite places for coffee, enjoying a bracing Cortado. The coffee is very strong in Malaga and, if I have more than one in the morning, a caffeine rush is guaranteed.

I often go for a coffee to wind down after a Spanish lesson with Toni. My sessions this year include 40% of us talking in Spanish about what either he or I have done since the last class. I have a real problem hearing the language so this part of my learning is very important. Today we spent time discussing Paul and I visiting the Renfe train office at the station in an attempt to get a refund on our delayed Sevilla train. The shenanigans at the station was nothing compared to attempting to tell the story to Toni in Spanish!!
My routine after a lesson and coffee, usually involves a stop at one of the many supermercados in town. There is a Día and a Carrefour on every corner and a Mas2Go a minute from the apartment, but my regular is Maskom. They have a good deli section which includes a lot of expensive international cheese – I enjoy looking at these but find myself swinging back to the regular fridges for more reasonably priced queso!! There is hardly a day when I don’t pick up a fresh baguette. At under a euro, often still warm, I will miss this delightful, delicious daily ritual when we return to Reading!
