We are already a third of the way through this hibernation – time is zipping by. I seem to be writing less blogs this year and I think that is partly down to us just actually enjoying living here and not actively looking for new things to do or experience. Also the third time around, living here is a lot less daunting, with fewer challenges for me to waffle on about on here. Though I usually have something I want to say.
We flew back to Ireland briefly last weekend and happily the new EU Entry/Exit System (EES) allowed me to breeze in and out as I had registered when we arrived earlier in the month. Funnily enough, it was the EU eGates that weren’t working either time!
Whilst in Ireland we picked up some essentials. Tea is not good in Spain. The supermarkets do sell a black tea but it is way too weak and herbal tasting. So I restocked with Barry’s and Lyons tea which are as good as, if not better, than Yorkshire.
And on the theme of things the Irish do better (patriots and vegetarians I apologise), you can’t beat the Clonakilty sausages and rashers. So we stocked up on those at the airport as well. Now for the most part we buy and cook the Spanish products available – including their chicken breasts which are massive – but when it comes to sausages, they really aren’t to either of our tastes. That said, we haven’t tried any of the chicken sausages readily available….
Although living in El Palo, we have still been hopping on the bus for food and drinks come Friday and/or Saturday night. So many great restaurants, pubs and bars to enjoy in a vibrant atmosphere. A bus journey in and then fifteen minute jaunt back in a taxi. Perfect.
